Cryotherapy, or “frotox,” is a technique where the body is exposed to cold temperatures for a short amount of time therefore freezing the muscles and creating a glowing look similar to the results seen with botox.
So what is cryotherapy and how is it used?
Cryotherapy, sometimes known as cold therapy, is the local or general use of low temperatures in medical therapy. Cryotherapy may be used to treat a variety of tissue and the most prominent use of the term refers to the surgical treatment, specifically known as cryosurgery. Cryosurgery is the application of extremely low temperatures to destroy abnormal or diseased tissue and is used most commonly to treat skin conditions, skin tags, warts and other suspect skin aliments.
There are many uses for cryotherapy! The most common is to relieve muscle pain, sprains and swelling after soft tissue damage or surgery. It can be a range of treatments from the application of ice packs or immersion in ice baths or cold cambers.
Cryotheraphy has so many additional benefits. clients have seen decreased cranial pressure (goodby migraines), numbs nerve irritation, and has been used in studies to treat various mood disorders.
